We are thrilled to announce that Melina, our Registered Dental Hygienist, recently completed advanced training to become a Myofunctional Therapist at Gorman Dental Center! With the aim of correctly diagnosing and treating poor oral habits/functions for individuals of all ages, the rigorous program delved comprehensively into orofacial anatomy, growth, and function—including how to effectively activate and guide proper orofacial development for optimal bite alignment, breathing wellness, TMJ movement, orthodontic results, and more via customized myofunctional therapy.
As a Myofunctional Therapist who is also a Licensed Dental Hygienist, Melina is uniquely qualified to assess oral health while identifying orofacial issues and/or poor oral habits, ultimately enabling her to develop the most effective myofunctional therapy plan possible for every individual. Additionally, for those troubled by sleep apnea or snoring—two issues commonly related to orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs)—she is able to work closely with our skilled dentist and leader in the breathing wellness movement, Dr. Martin Gorman. Together, they can help resolve sleep-related airway conditions, leading to a significantly improved quality of life.
If you are interested in myofunctional therapy for yourself or a loved one, we encourage you to contact Gorman Dental Center to schedule a consultation with Melina. If you don’t live near Encino, she even offers virtual Skype check-ins throughout the course of treatment to ensure therapy is progressing as anticipated while alleviating the burden of long distance travel to our office—so don’t let geography keep you from receiving the top-quality care you need and deserve!Previous Post
